FAQs- all about China, adoption, travel

Hello Everyone! It's seems like a good time to answer the popular questions. It'll take a few days to get to them all, so I'll put together a few posts. If you have a specific question, just post it in the comments and I'll add it to the list.

1. When will you get her? While this seems to be a relatively easy question, it has a very complex answer. The quick answer ? Hopefully July 15th. The long answer? We are currently waiting for our TA (travel approval) from China’s Center for Adoption Affairs (CCAA). We need the TA in order to schedule all of our ‘government’ appointments. We expect our TA to arrive by the end of June.

2. How long will you be in China? About 2 weeks

3. Who is going to China? Lori, Dan, and my sister Jen. Dan will stay for the first full week and then head home (return to work, take care of the kiddos here, etc). My sister will join me for the second week. We are very excited that she has graciously volunteered to go! Unfortunately, we’ve hit a bit of a snag in our travel plans for her. Certain providences in China have established travel restrictions due to the outbreak of that darn swine flu! Please say a prayer that these restrictions are lifted in the next two weeks so we can proceed as we had originally planned.

4. How long is the flight? Just a quick 16 hours. J I may need to medicate Dan!

5. Where will you stay/what will you do for 2 weeks? We will fly into Beijing and spend a few days there site-seeing (Great Wall, etc) while acclimating ourselves to the 12-hour time difference. Then, we will travel from Beijing to Chongqing to meet Huayou and complete the adoption. We will spend about 5 days in Chongqing. Once the adoption is complete and we have received her passport, we will all travel to Guangzhou! The US embassy is located in Guangzhou, so this last phase of our trip is all about the USA! In Guangzhou, Huayou will have a required medical examine and an appointment with the US embassy in order to apply for her Visa. Once the Visa is ready, we will have a ceremonial swearing-in service and head on home!
